Renovation of a military facility in Chey Mtn AFB, Colorado. Completed plans call for the renovation of a military facility.
The existing lightning protection system includes four air terminal masts that have been damaged by wind. The project involves replacing these damaged masts with new ones. The new air terminals will be reconnected to the existing lightning protection system using appropriate and compliant connection methods Installation of Lightning Protection System shall comply with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 780, UFC 3-575-01, AFMAN 32-1065, LPI 175, UL 96A and PSFB Design Guide. The contractor shall replace the air terminals with new ones of the same size and material to maintain uniformity and compatibility with the existing lightning protection systems. The contractor shall test and record the continuity and ground resistance readings for each replaced terminal after installation. The recorded results shall be submitted as a deliverable before final inspection. Additionally, the contractor shall provide a certificate of calibration for all electrical equipment used during this process at the final inspection. The contractor shall secure a third-party LPS inspector to inspect and provide written certification of the Lightning Protection System (LPS) in compliance with UFC 3-575-01, Section 4-5 - Certification Statement. This certification must be obtained and submitted before project closeout. Any questions regarding this solicitation shall be submitted to the contracting team no later than (NLT) 12:00 P.M. Mountain Time (MT) Friday April 11 2025. All questions must be submitted to both the Contract Specialist, Aaron Smith at aaron.smith.103@spaceforce.mil and the Contracting Officer, MSgt Jason Donovan at jason.donovan.1@spaceforce.mil. Questions submitted after this deadline may not be answered. Estimated Performance Time: 30 calendar days QA For mast air terminal, it shows the fiberglass 2 X 21 - 3 with 25 #228 Class II Lightning Protection Conductor with 24 Blunt Tip air terminal Yes, the LPI certification can be submitted by a subcontractor. Yes, the 5-yearse experience can be provided in the narrative. The contractor would require doing a LPI lightning protection certification for the system installed but would not require for lightning surge protection of main panel.
