Reference Number 0000382699 Tuskegee University is issuing a Request for Bids to interested qualified companies to perform construction services located at Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, AL. The Project, the Center for Genomics and Health Disparity Research, consists of the selective demolition and alteration of the existing Carver Research Foundation Building to accommodate the addition of a new laboratory building annex. Site improvements will include reorganization of the existing parking lot, minor landscaping, and the creation of an entry plaza. The single package for the one-story, 8,900sf building construction and site improvements includes the following: Selective demolition of the existing concrete stairs, ramps, railings, paving, landscape, and hardscape as indicated on demolition plans. The existing greenhouse will be removed, as will the miscellaneous fencing, equipment brackets, and exterior building lighting. Replacement of the existing exterior door and hardware at the southwest entry with new fire-rated door and hardware assembly. Replacement of the existing window, adjacent to the entry with fire-rated construction. Construction of a new, one-story building annex that includes a state-of-the-art biomedical laboratory and office space, along with associated service areas, and a high-performance building envelope consisting of Brick Veneer, Aluminum Storefront, ACM Panel System, and Roofing Systems. Site improvements include a reorganized parking lot, a retaining wall along the southwest edge, a new Plaza, grand entry stairs, and new hardscape/landscape/site lighting. All other work is outside of the scope Question Acceptance Deadline 6/6/25 4:30 PM CST/CDT Questions are submitted online Yes General Requirements - Bidder Prequalification/Preregistration Required - Bid Deposit Required - Contractors License Required - Insurance Required - License Required All contractors must be licensed by the Alabama General Contractors Licensure Board and meet all statutory requirements including general liability, workers' compensation, and license in good standing. The license number must be included with the bid. Bidders are solely responsible for timely delivery. Tuskegee University is not liable for costs incurred before a contract is issued. All costs associated with bid preparation are at the bidder's expense. The selected Design-Builder must maintain all required business and specialty licenses for the City of Tuskegee and Macon County. Proof of licenses and insurance must be on file with the Purchasing Office prior to work start. INSURANCE & BONDING: Required coverage: Workers Compensation General Liability ($1M per occurrence) Auto Liability ($1M per occurrence) Insurance must be valid throughout the project duration. A cashier's check or bid bond (minimum 5% of bid, maximum $10,000) is required prior to issuance of a Notice to Proceed. Performance and Payment Bonds equal to the contract amount will also be required. Bids must be sealed and clearly labeled with the company name, address, and AL license number. All bids must remain valid for 90 days and comply with the stated conditions. BID PACKAGE MUST INCLUDE: Proof of licenses, insurance, and references List of qualified personnel Timeline for job completion One-year contractor workmanship warranty Manufacturer warranties for all equipment The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. If the lowest bidder declines, it will be offered to the next lowest, and so on. Contractors must pay at least the prevailing wage rates per General Decision No. AL20250078 (March 14, 2025) and submit certified weekly payrolls.
