Site work and paving for a road / highway in Pembroke, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
As part of this program, the AFA invites heavy equipment Contractors to submit quotes for Forest Access Road Grading conducted from approximately late April to the end of October 2025, weather permitting. Road grading will be primarily for the Lake Travers/Barron Canyon Road (County Road 28) from the end of the pavement to the Lake Travers access point near KM 72 but also includes the occasional grading of the Mallard/Sec Lake Road, McManus Lake Road, and the Lake Travers Road into the Achray Campground. One (1) grader will be dedicated to this road system working an average of approximately 40 hours per week. The total contract will be a minimum of 800 hours and may vary depending on the need and funding available, up to a maximum of approximately 1200 hours. The actual hours will be as directed by the AFA Supervisor on the project. Separate floating invoices are not eligible for this part of the project and should be covered by the cost per productive hour grading the road. All road graders must be in good working condition, no more than 20 years old, have a minimum of 200 horsepower and be a minimum of 30,000 lbs. The AFA reserves the right to inspect all equipment and determine if equipment is acceptable prior to awarding the contract. Graders must be equipped with hazard warning lights. The Contractor is responsible for supplying and maintaining warning signage required pursuant to MTO Book 7. Operators must have grader operator training and a minimum of 5 years' experience. They must be able to provide references and a resume of work experience. The road will be maintained and repaired to the standards in the Grader Operator Forest Access Roads Manual (March 2009) and as directed by the AFA Supervisor. The successful Contractor will be required to enter in a contract with the AFA to supply all required equipment, personnel, and materials. WSIB coverage or personal injury insurance is required prior to commencing as well as $5,000,000 liability insurance with the AFA listed as additionally insured.
