Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Chicago, Illinois. Working plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.

As per the Owner the project has been cancelled. This project will be rebid on a later date that has not yet been determined. Joplin ES - Theater Renovation All questions/requests must be received in writing by noon on 4/24/2025. Email questions to PM Joti Nagpal (jknagpal@cps.edu). An Addendum, if required will be issued by COB on Friday, 4/25/25. Scope: BASE BID 1. Abate, remove/replace VCT tiles & carpet in the Bailey Theater floor, stair and stage floor areas (app. area 1,750 SF). Refer to Item 2 below for seat removal prior to performing the floor removal and replacement work. New material will be VCT tiles all the way across, color to be selected by the Principal. Furnish and install new nosing at stage front. Abatement work must be performed by a licensed subcontractor under supervision of MEC TEM's personnel. Follow state laws and Environmental Design Manual for proper disposal of removed materials. 2. Remove and replace the Bailey Theater seats. Match existing seat size, number, pattern and layout except to provide 1 additional fixed row seating at the back of the theater space. This will increase the Theater seating capacity by 13 seats in the new Theater set up. Removal of the existing seats will be by a licensed abatement contractor. Dispose the removed existing seats per MEC's Design Manual and state Environmental laws. Furnish and install new fixed seating per the attached CPS specification section, The new seats will be furnished without Aisle lights. No Electrical work is required. 3. Remove and replace stage curtain. Match the existing size and layout. Follow CPS specifications for the new materials. Existing drapery rod and accessories to remain and be reused. New curtain color will be selected by the school Principal. 4. Prep and repaint existing masonry walls above the glazed tiles inside the Theater (app. area 2,100 SF). Prime and paint over the existing artwork in this portion of the walls. Follow TEM Design Manual for assumed lead in the existing paint materials. The painting work must be performed by RRP certified manpower. No work is required at the lower glazed tile portion of the walls. Scope: ALTERNATES Alternate 1. - Remove existing window blinds and replace these with manual shades. Match the existing length and height of the blinds. Color to be selected by the Principal. Provide new hardware as needed. Dispose the removed blinds per CPS requirements, unless MEC Manual has special instructions. CPS Project 2025-22281-OII The Joplin Elementary School is located southwest of Chicago downtown, off EB I-94. Campus consists of a single 3-story building. The base scope for project includes removal and replacement of existing Theater seats. The seating section is being expanded at the back by providing 1 additional row of seats. Uninstalled existing seats will be disposed per MEC manual. Subsequent to seat removal, the hazardous existing VCT tiles will be removed and replaced in the Theater and stage areas. Another base bid item is to remove and replace stage curtain, keeping and reusing the existing infrastructure. Last base scope work is painting the upper part (masonry) of the periphery walls in the Theater area. There is one alternate - to remove and replace window blinds with shades. Refer to next page for a more detailed description of the base and alternate scopes.
