"The immediate first priority to get moving is going to be the middle school," Dr. Gregory Pilewski, superintendent of the North Little Rock School District said. "The state department has allocated $20.8 million towards that. We have until 2028 to spend that money down, so we are on the clock to get that started." Other priorities include renovating the iconic Ole Main structure and constructing an indoor sports and activity complex. "It is an exciting time in North Little Rock, our future looks bright," Dr. Pilewski said. "It is just great to have the community's support," he added. Despite the city's population of nearly 65,000, only about 3,200 residents participated in the vote. Unofficial results show 1,706 votes in favor of the millage increase and 1,514 against.
