This project is funded in part under the Capital Fund Program ofthe U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.The general scope of work for this project includes roofing replacement on approx 410 Squares ofexisting roof area with new shingle roofing as specified, together with associated work at variousapartment buildings at the Berwick Housing Authority. Bids will be received for a Base Bid andAdditive Alternate Bids. Attention is calledto the insurance requirements and to the provisions for equal employment op- portunity, andpayment of not less than the minimum wages that must be paid on this project, as set forth in theSpecifications. The attention of the Contractor(s) proposing to submit a bid on this project is expressly called to theinterest and desire of the Housing Auth- ority, that female and minority individuals, particularlythose residing in or near the housing developments of the Auth- ority, be given preference forpositions of new employment.All bids shall be accompanied by a bid bond or certified check equal to at least five percent (5%) ofthe amount bid for the Base Bid and made payable without condition to the Owner as a guaranteethat the bidder, if awarded the contract, will promptly enter into a contract for the project. Bidder isrequired to comply with provisions and re- quirements of LA R.S. 38:2212(B)(5). No bid may bewithdrawn for a period of forty-five (45) days after receipt of bids, except under the provisions ofLA. R.S. 38:2214. Any contractor and/or sub-contractor whose bid exceeds $50,000.00 shall belicensed in ac- cordance with current statutes of Louisiana Law. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids for just cause. In accordance with La. R.S.38:2212(B)(1), the provisions and requirements of this Section; and those stated in the biddingdocuments shall not be waived by any entity.
