Traffic Signal Mast Arm Pole Painting US31W / US 68X (Kentucky Street). The City of Bowling Green, KY is soliciting bids from qualified contractors for the preparation and repainting of traffic signal mast arm poles at multiple intersections along US68X and 31W, as detailed in the attached specifications document. The scope of work includes providing traffic control, surface preparation, application of rust-inhibitor treatments, and painting of the traffic signal poles. The City of Bowling Green, Kentucky reserves the right to reject any and all bids received, and to select that bid which it determines to be in its best interest. The award of this bid will be made on the basis of the Lowest Bid Price as permitted in KRS 45A.365. Surface Preparation: o Thoroughly clean all surfaces to be painted, removing dirt, oils, grease, loose paint, and contaminants. o Prepare surfaces in accordance with SSPC-SP3 to remove all loose rust, scale, paint, and other non-adherent materials. o Surfaces must be clean and dry prior to coating application. o Areas exhibiting active corrosion shall be treated with an approved rust converter, if necessary, prior to priming. Recommended rust inhibitors include PPG Pitt-Tech(R) Plus Rust Inhibitive Primer, Corroseal(R), or an approved equivalent. 2. Sign and Equipment Handling: o Signs attached to poles with screws shall be temporarily removed, stored safely, and reinstalled after painting. Painting shall cover the areas behind these signs. o Traffic signal heads, pedestrian signal heads, cameras, sensors, and any equipment attached by astro brackets and/or banding shall remain in place. Painting shall be completed around these items without removing them. 3. Paint Application Method: o Due to high traffic volume and to minimize overspray risk, the painting method shall be limited exclusively to brush and roller application. o Spray painting is strictly prohibited.
