This work is required as part of the restoration of the former Preissac Molybdenite mine site, located near the municipality of Preissac (Quebec), in Abitibi-Temiscamingue. After the mine was completed, illegal activities of burning scrap rubber/tar containing copper chloride took place at the site on Lake Fontbonne. These burning activities generated contamination, specifically dioxins and furans (D&F), which were leached into the tributary of Lac Fontbonne.The project covered by this specification consists of the restoration of the tributary of Lake Fontbonne by covering the contaminants associated with the watercourse substrate using a geotextile membrane and two dikes permeable in granular embankment over a length of approximately 380 metres, between the old burning site and the mouth of the tributary. The geotextile membrane will be covered with a 300 mm thick trench. The deadline for completion is September 30, 2025, with the exception of revegetation work that must be completed by September 30, 2026.
