Renovation of an educational facility in New York, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Genesys Engineering, P.C. (Genesys), as agent for the Dormitory Authority State of New York (DASNY), is seeking qualifications information from firms that would like to participate in a future Bid Solicitation, as the Prime Contractor, for the construction of a project that involves Chiller Plant and Distribution System Upgrades at Queens College. Contract Term: Eighteen (18) months The anticipated scope of work for the project includes the following: Queens College Central Chiller Plant Phase III Upgrade The intent of this project is to expand the distribution system to serve the following buildings: 1. Delany Hall 2. Klapper Hall 3. I-Building 4. Colden Complex 5. Razran Hall 1. Design one (1) 1,400-ton induced-draft cooling tower cell, including new connecting piping and installed grade on steel dunnage that was previously installed in Phase I. Expand walkways and handrails to new tower. 2. Provide condenser water, cold water and basin sweeper piping and valving from existing service header connections to new tower. 3. Tie the new cooling tower into existing plant control and modify sequence of operation to include new tower. 4. Electric power feed for additional 1,400-ton cooling tower 5. Install chilled water supply and return piping from new connections off the main supply and return distribution line leaving the Razran Hall central chiller plant. Run new underground chilled water piping in the parking lot area south of Delany Hall into Delany Hall and install shut off valve with blind flange for future connection. It was confirmed that Delany does not have a chilled water system existing to the building. The building is currently using DX units for comfort cooling. 6. Install chilled water supply and return piping from existing take off from main distribution lines located in tunnel. Run new chilled water lines from main distribution lines to face of Klapper Hall entry door and then penetrate tunnel south wall. Continue running new chilled water pipes from tunnel south wall penetrations below outside grade into Klapper Hall mechanical room and install shut off valve with blind flange for future use. 7. The existing Colden Complex absorption chiller plant in the north end of the King Halll wing will remain with new supply and return connections to the Razran Hall central chiller plant as a standby source of cooling. 8. Run new chilled water piping underground from Manhole #6 south of the I-building and connect into the Absorption Chiller plant supply and return piping located in the Gertz service tunnel that run to/from the chiller plant at the north end of Colden-King Hall wing. 9. Connect the new chilled water piping into the existing chilled water system loop to allow for the absorption chiller plant to be available as stand-by. The switchover from the central chiller plant at Razran Hall to the absorption chiller plant in King Hall will be manual as requested by the Queens College operators. 10. Install a new minimum flow bypass valve in the Gertz service tunnel location and a chiller bypass pipe and valves in the absorption chiller room in the King Hall wing. 11. Install new BMS control connections to communicate from Colden Complex with the Razran central chiller plant. 12. Install chilled water supply and return piping from the main distribution line in the steam tunnel west of the I-Building. Run new chilled water pipes up the outside wall above the steam tunnel to the roof and install shut off valve with blind flange for future connection. The I Building does not have a chilled water system existing in the building. The I-building currently uses DX units for comfort cooling. The estimated construction cost range is $10 to $15 Million. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
