Project Description: the Purpose of Oxbow Phase 6 is to Build Upon Previous Restoration Efforts Aimed at Mitigating Historic Gold Dredging Impacts. Phase 6 is Intended to Complete Adaptive Management Measures to Restore Natural Floodplain and River Function. The John Day Basin Office Has Partnered With the Bureau of Reclamation to Develop the Oxbow Habitat Enhancement Project. Phase 6 of the Project on the Middle Fork John Day River Proposes to Grade Floodplain, Install Floodplain and Large-woody Debris (Lwd) Structures, Construct Riffles, Vegetated Islands, Point Bars, and Bank Features, and Construct Side Channels and High Flow Swales. This Project is Intended to Improve Floodplain Connectivity With Groundwater, Riparian Vegetation Establishment, and Critical Rearing and Spawning Habitat for Chinook Salmon and Esa-listed Steelhead. This Project is Subject to Indian Preference, Bonding Requirements, Davis-bacon Wage Rates, and All Other Applicable Federal, State, and Tribal Rules and Regulations. The Oxbow Phase 6 Habitat Enhancement Project Involves in-stream Work and Will Be Required to Adhere to the in-water Work Window of July 15 - August 15. Due to the Commonly Wet Conditions of This Work Area, the Contractor Could Start Work as Early as Mid-june, but Will Be Expected to Start Work by July 1, 2025 and Be Finished by Late-september. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
