Site work for a civil project in Farmington, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.

The Franklin County Commissioners, 120 County Way, Suite 4, Farmington, Maine are requesting sealed bid proposals for Ditching and Culvert replacement on the following roads in Freeman Township and Madrid Township, in Franklin County. Shoulder/ Ditching Specifications: _ Shoulder width will be maintained and repair any damage from water erosion. _ Shoulders will be graded at a slightly steeper cross slope to provide positive drainage to the ditch. _ If possible, all slopes will be no steeper than 3:1. _ The depth of the ditch should be a minimum of 18", where practical, below the gravel base or follow the original ditch depth when constructed to maintain water flow to existing cross culverts and for water cutouts. _ The width of the bottom of the ditch will be a minimum of 18" wide between the front slope and back slope, v-ditch should be avoided. _ No gravel/sod berm or windrow will be left in between the road and the ditch slope. _ Avoid any inconveniences to residents without prior notice given to them _ The contractor will use proper warning signs in and around the work area. Minimize lane closures during construction. _ All unstable ditches and slopes will be properly protected against erosion according to MDEP best management practices. Any exposed soil shall be stabilized with hay mulch at the end of the workday. The contractor must be a Maine DEP certified contractor in Erosion and Sedimentation Control practice. _ All work will be performed under the direction of the Road Supervisor. _ Contractor shall identify culverts or obstructions before work begins. _ The contractor will call Dig Safe before any work begins and provide the county with the dig safe permit number. A machine must have a hydraulic ditching bucket and not be any larger than a 23-ton excavator and no smaller than an 18-ton Excavator. The contractor shall avoid sharp turns on the hot top and avoid damage to the surface. No Pre-bid meeting will be held. It is the Bidder's responsibility to visit the areas listed above and confirm the Scope of Work. Questions concerning the Invitation to bid can be directed to Robert D.
