Renovation of a swimming pool in North Bend, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a swimming pool.
The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) is seeking quotations from qualified contractors for the removal of the existing roof and solar heating panels, and the installation of a new roofing system at the Almer Carlson Pool in North Bend, British Columbia. The facility operates seasonally from July through September. All work must be completed following the seasonal closure in late September and prior to reopening the following year. The new roofing system must meet or exceed the highest available FireSmart rating (e.g., Class A fire resistance). In addition to the roofing replacement, contractors must remove the existing solar heating panels and provide all necessary structural reinforcements or backing to support the future reinstallation of solar panels in 2026. Specifications include the following: Removal and disposal of existing roofing materials in compliance with applicable regulations Removal and safe storage of existing solar heating panels Inspection of the roof structure to identify any damage requiring repair Supply and installation of new FireSmart-rated roofing materials (Class A or equivalent) Installation of adequate structural backing or mounts to allow for future reinstallation of solar heating panels Compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and municipal building codes Coordination with FVRD personnel for access and site readiness All work to be completed during the facility's off-season.
