Asbestos Abatement Bad Axe Public Schools intends to renovate the Bad Axe Elementary and Middle Schools. As part of this work asbestos containing materials must be abated. The WORK covered under these PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS is intended to accomplish the necessary abatement work needed. The WORK shall be completed by a State of Michigan licensed asbestos abatement contractor with only accredited abatement workers and abatement supervisors completing the work in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requirements. The scope of work includes removal of asbestos containing flooring, pipe insulation, visual display boards and glue, and sinks. The project is expected to be completed June 9-16, 2025. The Owner has contracted Northern Analytical Services, LLC. (NAS) to prepare these Project Specifications and to perform oversight and air quality testing. NAS will perform all necessary asbestos air clearance testing in accordance with AHERA. Sealed bids will be accepted from qualified contractors by Bad Axe Public Schools for the Bad Axe Public Schools 2025 Asbestos Abatement project. A bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid amount is required and shall accompany the bid. Bid security may be in the form of a bid bond issued by a qualified surety authorized to do business in the State of Michigan, a cashier's check, or money order payable to Bad Axe Public Schools. Bids may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the bid date. All bids shall be accompanied by a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationship that exists between the Owner(s) or any employee of the bidder and any member of the board, intermediate school board, or board of directors or the superintendent of the school district, or chief executive officer or the public school academy. The District shall not accept a bid that does not include this sworn and notarized disclosure statement. All bids shall be accompanied by a sworn and notarized affidavit of compliance with the Iran Economic Sanctions Act. The District shall not accept a bid that does not include this sworn and notarized affidavit. Bad Axe Public Schools reserves the right to reject any or all bids per MCL 380.1267.
