The City of Ames is seeking proposals for Professional Engineering Services for the 2025/26 Collector Street Pavement Improvements (Bloomington Rd Rehabilitation). PROJECT INFORMATION _ Title: 2025/26 Collector Street Pavement Improvements (Bloomington Rd Rehabilitation) _ Location: Bloomington Rd (from GW Carver to 500 feet west of Eisenhower Ave) Program Overview/Background: This annual program utilizes rehabilitation and reconstruction techniques to improve arterial streets. These pavement improvements will restore structural integrity, serviceability, and rideability. Targeted streets are experiencing accelerated deterioration, and timely intervention will extend their service life. The 2025/26 Collector Street Pavement Improvements (Bloomington Rd) project involves milling and overlaying the existing pavement section. o The two south lanes were constructed in 1996 with 10 inches of asphalt over a 6-inch rock base. o The north lanes were constructed in 2009, along with the turn lanes at GW Carver and Stange Rd, with the same pavement structure (10 inches of asphalt over a 6-inch rock base). o This project proposes a 2-inch mill and overlay of both surfaces. Core samples will be taken before design begins to assess pavement conditions and determine the appropriate milling depth and project scope. The project also includes the replacement of the shared-use path on the south side of Bloomington Rd and approaches to a Union Pacific railroad crossing. These will both be addressed in the design and project development process.
