The purpose of this bid is to contract with a qualified vendor to install a new paired panel operable partition in the newly renovated Board of Education room at Longwood Middle School, 41 Yaphank Middle Island Rd., Middle Island, NY 11953. The purpose of this bid is to contract with a qualified vendor to install a new paired panel operable partition in the newly renovated Board of Education room at Longwood Middle School, 41 Yaphank Middle Island Rd., Middle Island, NY 11953. Scope of Work Successful bidder will install a new partition that meets the requirements as set forth in these specifications. Responsibilities o Installation of new partition must be completed per manufacturer's recommendations. o All services must be performed in accordance with the National Code, current edition, and all state, local, NFPA codes. See Appendix A within these specifications for all reference standards. o Successful Vendor and/or its employees shall be licensed, certified, registered and/or authorized to perform services rendered under this contract as required by all applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations and shall be licensed by the County of Suffolk where required and submit such documentation upon request from the District. o The Successful Vendor must clean up and remove all debris and rubbish resulting from this work. Upon completion, the premises shall be left in a neat, unobstructed condition, and everything in perfect repair and order. o The Successful Vendor must have all the necessary tools, supplies and/or equipment to perform the work as specified. o Equipment, supplies and materials shall be stored at the site only upon approval of the school district and at the Contractor'srisk. In general, such on-site storage should be avoided to prevent possible damage or loss of the material. o Work shall be progressed so as to cause the least inconvenience to the school district. o Bidders shall acquaint themselves with conditions to be found at the site and shall assume all responsibility for placing and installing the equipment in the locationsrequired. No extra charge will be allowed because of a difference between actual conditions and measurements or drawings. The bidder shall be responsible for the correctness of same. o Successful Vendor must ensure that his/her employees abide by the prohibition against smoking on District property. o Successful Vendor may not impose a fuel charge under any name. o No travel time will be paid. Any travel or lodging expenses must be included in the final bid price. o Examine flooring, structural support, and opening, with District personnel, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of operable partitions. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. o Upon completed installation, adjust operable partitions to operate smoothly, easily, and quietly, free from binding, warp, excessive deflection, distortion, nonalignment, misplacement, disruption, or malfunction, throughout entire operational range. Lubricate hardware and other moving parts. o Demonstrate proper operation and maintenance procedures to District representative. o Provide Operation and Maintenance Manual to District representative. Paired Panel Operable Partition Requirements o The proposed paired panel operable partition must be Modernfold, Inc. Acousti-Seal Premier as detailed below, or approved equal. o Architectural Drawings are provided with these specifications as Attachment 'A' for informational purposes. Measurements must be verified by bidder and included in the bid price. o Bidder must submit his own detailed shop drawings of partition design. These drawings must show location and extent of operable partitions. Include plans, elevations, sections, details, attachments to other construction, and accessories. Indicate dimensions, weights, conditions at openings, and at storage areas, and required installation, storage, and operating clearances. Indicate location and installation requirements for hardware and track, including floor tolerances required and direction of travel. Indicate blocking to be provided by others. o Setting Drawings must be included showing imbedded items and cutouts required in other work, including support beam punching template. Specification sheets and/or other literature from the manufacturer regarding the proposed model must be included with the bid submission. Must include material descriptions, construction details, finishes, installation details, and operating instructions for each type of operable partition, component, and accessory specified. o Must include a minimum of 24 months warranty from the Manufacturer to repair or replace any components with manufacturing defects. Provide documentation of such. o Colors will be selected after bid award. Awarded bidder will provide color cards or other physical color samples for the District to reference upon award notification. o Bidder must provide a complete and unedited written sound test report indicating test specimen matches product submitted. o Product Specifications: o Series of paired flat panels hinged together in pairs, manually operated, top supported with operable floor seals. o Final Closure: horizontally expanding panel edge with removable crank o Panel Construction: Nominal 3-inch (76mm) thick panels in manufacturer's standard 48-inch (1220mm) widths. All panel horizontal and vertical framing members fabricated from minimum 18-gage formed steel with overlapped and welded corners for rigidity. Top channel is reinforced to support suspension system components. Frame is designed so that full vertical edges of panels are of formed steel and provide concealed protection of the edges of the panel skin. o Panel Skin: 1/2-inch (13mm) tackable 100% recycled gypsum board, class "A" rated single material or composite layers continuously bonded to panel frame. Acoustical ratings of panels with this construction is 47 STC. o Hinges: Full leaf butt hinges, attached directly to panel frame with welded hinge anchor plates within panel to further support hinge mounting to frame. Lifetime warranty on hinges. Hinges mounted into panel edge or vertical astragal are not acceptable. o Panel Trim: No vertical trim required or allowed on edges of panels; minimal groove appearance at panel joints. o Panel Weights: 47 STC - 7 lbs./square foot o Panel Face Finish: Reinforced heavy-duty vinyl with woven backing weighing not less than 30 ounces (850 g) per lineal yard. o Panel Trim: Exposed panel trim of one consistent color from manufacturer's standard offering, Smoke Gray. o Vertical Interlocking Sound Seals between panels: Roll-formed steel astragals, with reversible tongue and groove configuration in each panel edge for universal panel operation. Rigid plastic or aluminum astragals or astragals in only one panel edge are not acceptable. o Horizontal Top Seals: Continuous contact extruded vinyl bulb shape with pairs of non-contacting vinyl fingers to prevent distortion without the need for mechanically operated parts. o Horizontal Bottom Seals: Manually activated seals providing nominal 2-inch (51 mm) operating clearance with an operating range of +1/2-inch (13 mm) to -1-1/2-inch (38 mm). Seal shall be operable from panel edge or face. Extended seal shall exert nominal 120 pounds (265 kg) downward force to the floor throughout operating range. o Suspension System: #17 Suspension Tracks: Minimum 11-gage, 0.12-inch (3 mm) roll-formed steel track, suitable for either direct mounting to a wood header or supported by adjustable steel hanger brackets, supporting the load-bearing surface of the track, connected to structural support by pairs of 3/8-inch (9.5mm) diameter threaded rods. Aluminum track is not acceptable. Exposed track soffit: Steel, integral to track, and pre-painted off-white. Carriers: One all-steel trolley with steel-tired ball bearing wheels per panel (except hinged panels). Non-steel tires are not acceptable. Warranty period: Five (5) years. o Finished end caps at 90/135. o Intersecting partition interface. o Total bid price must be for turn-key installation, inclusive of products listed above, delivery, installation, design/drawing fees, measuring/survey fees, and any other charges necessary to complete the installation per the manufacturer's specifications. No additional charges will be considered. Bid prices will be irrevocable for a minimum period of forty-five (45) days from the date of the bid opening. *The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and all bids, or to award contracts which, in its judgment, are best for the school district.
