Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation (OOFN) is seeking Requests for Prequalification (RFPQ) from General Contractors interested in prequalifying for the opportunity to bid on the Watermain Rehabilitation Project in their community. Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation is located approximately 100 km south of Kenora, ON, on Highway 71 and is road-accessible year-round by Highway 71. The community lies in Geographic Zone 2 according to Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) First Nation profiles. Fort Frances is the nearest service center for the community. Prequalified contractors will be invited to submit a Bid for this project. It is anticipated that the contract documents will be issued to prequalified contractors for tender in late May to late June 2025. In general, the project will include the following: - Site preparation; - Watermain removal and installation; - Water servicing reconnection; - Temporary watermain and services; - Hydrant and valve replacements, removals, and new installations; and - Site roadwork (including asphalt paving) and landscaping restoration. The scope of work includes the removal and reinstallation of approximately 80 metres of existing fencing to accommodate construction activities. Culvert restorations will be carried out at various locations, comprising of approximately 140 metres of 450 mm diameter culvert, 3 metres of 525 mm diameter culvert, 6 metres of 600 mm diameter culvert, 4 metres of 650 mm diameter culvert, and 10 metres of 1,050 mm diameter culvert. In addition, the project involves the restoration of 35 metres of concrete curb, including removal, supply, and placement. Asphalt structure restoration will also be performed, covering an area of approximately 3,500 square metres, and will include the removal, supply, and placement of new asphalt. The scope of watermain-related work includes the supply, installation, maintenance, and eventual removal of a temporary watermain system to ensure continuous service throughout reconstruction activities. Temporary 19 mm (Standard) and other sized domestic potable water services will also be provided, installed, maintained, and removed for all affected properties during the construction period. The existing watermain and associated appurtenances will be removed and disposed of, followed by the installation of new PVC watermain in trench. This includes tracer wire, bends, tees, reducers, and other necessary fittings, with an approximate total of 283 metres of 150 mm diameter, 388 metres of 200 mm diameter, and 1,590 metres of 250 mm. diameter pipe. Additionally, 13 complete hydrant assemblies-including valves, tees, insulation, and tracer wire-will be supplied and installed. The work also includes the supply and installation of 20 gate valves with all associated appurtenances.
