Site work and paving for a road / highway in Oakville, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
As of July 29, 2025, the project was awarded to Associated Paving & Materials LTd., with an awarded amount of $230,750.50. As a result of a traffic study, the Corporation of the Town of Oakville has a requirement for construction of a left-turn lane at Progress Court to South Service Road West. The estimated start date for construction is July 14, 2025 and completion date is September 26, 2025. Question Deadline: Wed May 28, 2025 2:00:00 PM (EDT) Duration in months: 3 All inquiries must be submitted through the bidding system by utilizing the Submit Question button This specification covers the requirements for the provision of all labour, equipment and material necessary for the construction and maintenance, to a standard satisfactory to the Engineer, of the following: a) b) c) d) e) Temporary access to private driveways and side streets. Temporary pedestrian facilities (sidewalks) for the convenience of the public. Temporary bus stops and transit facilities. Traffic control persons, signs, barricades, temporary concrete barriers and temporary QuadGuard System, delineators and lights in conformance with the latest edition of the "Ontario Traffic Control Manual - Book 7". Preparation and implementation of a traffic staging and traffic control plan in accordance with MTO OTM Book 7, subject to review and approval by the Contract Administrator. Construction >------------------ General L All temporary construction and maintenance shall be to the satisfaction of the Contract Administrator. The Contract Administrator will give written notification of any deficiencies, and the Contractor shall initiate repairs within 24 hours. The Contract Administrator reserves the right to contract with others to complete any repairs that have not been initiated within 24 hours of written notification. All costs for such repairs will be deducted from monies owing under the contract. V)/< At the pre-construction meeting the Contractor shall submit a plan for proposed traffic control arrangements, signed and stamped by a separate Licensed Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario, to the Town for review and acceptance. The plan should not be a photocopy of Book 7 but specific to the site. The plan is to coincide with the proposed progress schedule and shall indicate the position and type of signs to be used. The Contractor shall conduct his operations so that the street under construction, the intersecting streets and the driveways to adjoining properties are not obstructed longer than the minimum time necessary to complete the work and shall be reinstated as soon as possible to the satisfaction of the Town. % The Contractor shall give the Town two (2) full working days advance notice of any operation which will affect traffic movements in order to have, the Contractor's traffic control methods approved and to allow The Town to notify emergency and school bussing services. The Contractor shall arrange for any pay-duty police supervision necessary to direct traffic during any stage that would interfere with normal traffic flow. Pay-duty police supervision shall be required whenever a "flash condition" or a power outage occurs. Costs for pay-duty will be reimbursed under the contract item: "Cash allowance for pay duty police" Private Driveways The Contractor shall maintain access to driveways wherever possible. Construction shall be scheduled to allow for temporary access where necessary. Such temporary access shall consist of a pad of well compacted, Granular A aggregate, placed to a minimum thickness of 100 mm. Wheelchair access shall be maintained at all times. Traffic Control Persons, Signs, Temporary Concrete Barrier, Barricades, etc. The Contractor shall provide, place in service, maintain and remove all of the traffic control devices. The Contractor shall ensure that sufficient devices are always easily at hand to satisfy all of the requirements. In addition, the Contractor shall provide, place in service, maintain and remove special construction signs, where appropriate, to advise of rough surface, raised maintenance covers, timber decking, steel plates, narrow lanes and detours (for motor vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians), on all approaches to and within the areas under construction. The maintenance of all signs, temporary concrete barrier, barricades, etc. is a continuous 24 hour a day obligation. The Contractor must provide a contact that will be available at all hours, throughout the duration of the project. For failure to adequately protect all phases of the operation without delay, and to the satisfaction of the Contract Administrator, the Contractor will in the first instance be warned, in writing, about such failure. For subsequent failure by the Contractor to comply, remedial measures will be adopted by the Town, with the deduction from the final payment to the Contractor of all costs incurred by the Town to perform and carry out this work, including overhead and office costs. Transit E The Contractor shall co-ordinate all staging with any transit commission (Town, etc.) or schools that may have a bus stop or travel, within the construction limits. Special attention shall be given to loading and unloading areas for disabled persons. The Contractor shall provide access to all existing bus stops. The relocation and reinstatement of the bus stops shall be performed by the Contractor, under the direction of the transit authority or the Contract Administrator. There will be no additional payment for any delays caused by the Contractor having to stage his work around the transit commissions. Garbage Pickup Garbage and recyclables from private residences and businesses which is ordinarily left at the curb side within the contract limits, shall be collected and stockpiled at pre-determined locations on adjacent side streets, or at the edge of contract limits. The Contractor shall be responsible for returning individual garbage containers, green bin and blue boxes to the correct curb side location from where they were collected. The Contract Administrator will make inspections, as required, and the Contractor will be notified of any deficiency in writing. Repairs shall be carried out in conformance with this specification. Project Scheduling Construction is anticipated to begin on July 21,2025 and completed by October 3, 2025. The Contractor shall be aware of the ongoing utiltiy relocations on Sixth Line. Should utilty relocations are not completed prior to start of the construction, the Contractor shall be responsible to coordinate work with the utilities such that separation is provided in accordance with M.O.L. and so as not to interfere with or delay the ongoing utility relocations. The Contractor shall coordinate with the Town and the utility companies at the startup of construction and throughout the work in order to manage the construction schedule. No claims will be accepted by the Town for any delays caused as a result of utility relocations.
