Reference number: 20072233 Deadline for receipt of complaints 2025-06-09 Expected duration of the contract without options (in months) 6 On August 9, 2024, the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield was hit by rainfall of unprecedented intensity. The widespread loading of our sewer systems (sanitary, storm and combined) caused damage to several thousand homes. Of the city's 20,000 homes, it is estimated that almost half suffered damage. Because of the city's flat topography and the control of water levels by Hydro-Quebec dams, most of the damage was caused by sewer backups. The city would like to enlist the services of engineering professionals to inspect a representative sample of homes in the area to determine whether they are in compliance with the requirements for effectively preventing sewer backups or water infiltration. The aim is to obtain a snapshot of the resilience of homes in the area and to analyse the feasibility of implementing a programme to correct the weaknesses in the town's entire building stock. The inspection programme is free of charge for residents. It's all part of our action plan to deal with the increase in intense rainfall.
