The City of Orrville is seeking Statements of Qualifications from qualified Architectural and Engineering firms with respect to design services, bidding assistance, and construction administration for an expansion of Fire Station #2 located in Orrville, Ohio. Fire station #2 is located at 777 North Crownhill in Orrville, Ohio. The original building is a one-story, 1800 square feet brick building that was constructed in 1979. A 3-bay garage, conference room, and restrooms were added in 2001. The Fire Department is transitioning from a volunteer/part-time staff to a fully manned department which will require expansion for living quarters, updated restrooms, storage, showers, living room, training room, and kitchen area. The new addition will be located on the south side of the building (towards the cemetery driveway). Additional parking and drives behind the expansion will also be needed. It is desired that the exterior of the new building addition closely resemble the existing building in construction and materials. Although LEED certification is not a goal of the project, it is desired that the project incorporate LEED principals where feasible and cost effective. The selected firm will provide planning/conceptual design, cost estimating, architectural and engineering design, permitting, bidding assistance, and construction management services for the proposed project, including plans, specifications, and other construction bid documents for the City of Orrville Fire Department Station 2 addition. The services will be split into two phases. The initial planning phase will include preliminary architectural/engineering design to develop conceptual plans and preliminary cost estimating services. Upon completion of the initial planning phase of the project and securing of funding, the City will issue a Notice to Proceed for phase two for detailed design, permitting, bidding, and construction management. The current plan is to follow a traditional design-bid-build model for the project.
