The bridge will be allowed to be closed from 6 pm Friday to 6 am Monday, the exact dates and the number of closures desired will be determined during the construction process. The work to be performed during the closure will be Link slab construction, modular joint installation and asbestos removal. Liquidated damages may be incurred if the bridge is not open by 6:00 am Monday morning end closures, the closure applies to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The joint recess shall be filled with the slab mix item 557.1112 to the bottom elevation of the proposed latex modified concrete overlay. The link slab and modular joint will need a steel plate over it until it cures. The section of parapet directly above the proposed modular joint will need to be taken out and poured back. The gap left in the parapet wall and curb will be covered up with a joint cover plate system. The exact detail of the proposed modular joint and joint cover plate system can't be detailed until the contractor selects a joint system from the Departments approved list.
