Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Mendota, Illinois. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The City of Mendota has been awarded an ITEP grant to fund the construction of a scenic walk and bike path that will connect key destinations across the community. The path will begin at the Amtrak train depot downtown and extend to Strouss Park, Lake Mendota, and Lake Kakusha, enhancing access for families with limited transportation options in the southeast and downtown areas. Along the route, it will pass important community landmarks including the Graves-Hume Public Library, the rear of Strouss Park, a crossing at Route 251, and the high school baseball field parking lot. This project will promote healthy outdoor activity, improve connectivity, and support local tourism. As of August 26, 2025, the project has been approved, but the city must await additional contracting procedures, a formal bidding process and final engineering design. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2026.
