Description

New construction of a medical facility in Orillia, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a medical facility.

Redevelopment of the Orillia Soldier Memorial Hospital to accommodate growing healthcare demands of the Orillia area and surrounding regions; scope of work is to be determined. The preferred site is on University Avenue; approx. 25 acres (a site currently owned by Lakehead University). TIMELINE: Conceptual planning is underway. A preferred site has been selected; sale of land is pending. The Ministry of Health (MOH) is working with the owner to complete early planning for this project, including determining the scope of work. The ministry announced the Orillia project has moved the proposal along from development stage (1.2) to functional program stage (1.3) within the capital planning process. Scope of work, including number of beds and square footage, has yet to be determined. Tender and construction schedules have yet to be announced. Further update early 2027. *Initial cost estimate for the redevelopment is 1 Billion; details will however be finalized as the project proceed through the planning process.
