Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

The prequalified Contractors will competitively bid for a lump-sum contract. Estimated Construction Cost: $2,500,000. The Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) is a general land use plan that guides the physical development of the UCSD campuses. The scope of this project is to perform line striping and traffic control modifications at 26 intersections surrounding the Main Campus in the City of San Diego jurisdiction. Modifications include high visibility cross walks, bike friendly intersections, sidewalk/curb modifications, crosswalk pushbuttons, traffic loops and underground cabling equipment. The University seeks Contractors with demonstrated experience in City of San Diego roadways, site modifications, pedestrian crosswalk intersections and traffic signal projects totaling in size of 100,000 square feet or more. Specific experience requirements include; high visibility cross walks; concrete demolition and repair; asphalt demolition and repair; adaptive traffic control integration; video detection integration; road modification at major intersections in the City of San Diego; adherence to City of San Diego Greenbook standards; adherence to California Department of Transportation (DOT) standards; and City of San Diego Traffic control plans and permitting. The Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $5,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The Contractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects with the Contractor providing services as Prime General Building or General Engineering Contractor within the last ten (10) years. Projects should have possessed the following construction challenges; planning, scheduling, and phasing of multiple trades to minimize construction time to complete a project within scheduled deadline; urban site work with limited construction and staging areas; City of San Diego traffic control plans and permitting; road modification at major intersections in the City of San Diego requiring risk management and contingency planning strategies. No Prequalification Questionnaire will be received after 4:00 PM, TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2025. You will receive an email confirmation once your prequalification questionnaire is received. If you do not receive a confirmation email in one (1) business day, please contact Hiroko Wilson (hwilson@ucsd.edu) immediately. Confidentiality of the information provided will be respected to the extent permitted by law. Response to the Prequalification Questionnaire must be submitted on the forms contained within the Prequalification Questionnaire available at the address. All information requested in these forms must be provided in order to be considered "responsive" to the requirements of the prequalification. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. In addition, the University is committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Potential bidders will be required to submit their small business outreach plan to the University as part of the prequalification process. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
