These winches are spaced out along each dock system. The winches are connected, by a cable, to underground anchor points. They are a spur gear style hand winch that range from 1/2 ton to 5 ton capacity per winch. These winches are mounted to posts on the side frame rails of the docks. All of the dock's walkways and fingers, that the boats tie to, have multiple floats or float drums to support them. These floats are foam filled, one piece shell constructed with heavy mounting flanges and structural ribs. There are close to 1200 floats, of different sizes, to support the docks that are of various sizes. A majority of these floats have been in the water close to 30 years. UV light and rubbing/hitting make the rub rail brittle and crack.
