Site work for a civil project in Dixonville, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and road / highway.
The existing bridge structure at BF 72589 carries Township Road 864 over a Watercourse which is a tributary to the Whitemud River, approximately 16km southwest of the Hamlet of Dixonville. The existing structure consists of a 6.1m long single span Type PG precast concrete girder bridge with a timber substructure. The existing bridge has a clear roadway width of 8.2m, and was constructed in 1954. Guardrail exists at both ends of the existing bridge, approximately 7.6m long at both approaches. The existing bridge structure has reached the end of its' useful service life, and requires replacement. The site is located in the County of Northern Lights in a rural agricultural and oilfield/gas field industrial area, and roadway traffic counts at the crossing location were estimated at 100 vehicles per day in 2016. The gravelled roadway at the crossing location is approximately 9.0m wide. The scope of work for this project includes, but is not limited to, the following: - traffic accommodation - bridge superstructure demolition and disposal - site containment - bridge substructure partial demolition and disposal - haul of steel prefabricated bridge structure and accessory components - steel sheet pile wall installation - pile driving and substructure installation - installation of prefabricated steel bridge structure - installation of approach rail - headslope and adjacent roadway work
