Replace existing air handling and condensing units for the administrative building at FFA Camp in Hardinsburg, KY. The following Project Narrative describes Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural work associated with the HVAC renovation of the New Admin Building on the Future Farmers of America campus. Mechanical: The mechanical scope in the New Administration building includes the replacement of air handling units and condensing units, as these systems have surpassed their respective ASHRAE design lives. While the design of the building will remain unchanged, the newer units will have the same design capacities as the previous system. A minimal amount of ductwork will be replaced for connections to the new units, and the existing ductwork will be cleaned to prevent the accumulation of debris and dust. Additionally, the refrigerant piping will be replaced with new piping and insulation due to a change in refrigerant. The existing system utilized R410A, which is being phased out due to its high global warming potential, and will be replaced with R-454B, a refrigerant with a lower global warming potential. The new air handling units and condensing units will be integrated with the existing controls currently in operation. Electrical: The electrical scope supports the replacement of existing air handling and condensing units. AHU-3, AHU-4, COND-3, and COND-4 will utilize the existing feeder that served the demolished units. The contractor will intercept and extend the existing mechanical branch circuit as needed to power the new fusible disconnects, which will be NEMA 1-rated for condensing units and NEMA 3-rated for air handling unit enclosures, in accordance with the equipment nameplate. The existing circuit breaker in the main distribution panelboard (MDP) will remain unchanged. Additionally, the contractor will demolish the existing mechanical branch circuits and associated devices that previously served AHU-1, AHU-2, COND-1, and COND-2. The electrical contractor will provide new fusible disconnects for these units, ensuring that the condensing units receive NEMA 1-rated enclosures and the air handling units receive NEMA 3-rated enclosures. New conductors and conduits will be routed as required to supply power from the existing MDP to AHU-1, AHU-2, COND-1, and COND-2. New circuit breakers will be installed in the MDP for these units, and the electrical contractor will also install four new duct smoke detectors in the new air handling units. Final Completion is 11/21/2025
