2025 Various Street Rehab 5 Year Landscape Maintenance The work shall consist of furnishing all material and equipment and performing all labor required to carry out the general intention in accordance with the Plans and Specifications. This project shall consist of a bituminous surface Stress Absorbing Membrane (SAM) composed of a single application of Asphalt-Rubber material and hot pre-coated 3/8" aggregate. Pre-maintenance (crack sealing and patching) of the existing pavement surface will be recommended by Contractor and approved by the Engineer. This specification requires the application of a specified blend of asphalt-rubber binder material (i.e. a field blend product). This specification expressly determines that the asphaltrubber binder material specified herein (i.e. a field blend product) and modified binder, rubber modified asphalt or PG 76-22TR (i.e. terminal blend products) are sufficiently different such that they are not functionally equivalent. Therefore, any substitutions for the asphalt-rubber binder material specified herein, such as but not limited to any rubber modified asphalt binder (i.e. a terminal blend product) will not be accepted. The scope of work shall conform to the provisions of Section 4 of the Standard Specifications and the following additions: The intent of this project is to construct all items of work complete in place in accordance with the project plans, specifications and as directed by the Engineer. The unit prices, which include the cost of equipment, tool, materials and labor that are delivered to the work site are necessary for this purpose, to complete the project within the contract time required. When unforeseen difficulties or a conflict is encountered, including toxic and hazardous materials, Contractor shall notify the engineer in writing immediately upon discovery and before the existing conditions are disturbed. Contractor shall also allow the engineer minimum of three (3) hours to investigate the conditions and make determinations concerning these conditions. Contractor and his work force shall assist the Engineer in such investigations. If the Engineer determines that additional time is needed for evaluation after investigation; the Contractor shall reschedule, reassign, transfer or move any labor, materials, tools, and equipment and alter the sequence of construction activities as necessary to carry out the intent of this project at no cost to the City. The Contractor cannot withdraw from the project site any labor, materials, tools and equipment without prior written approval by the engineer or his authorized representative. The Contractor, therefore, shall have no claim against the City for delay, standby time of tolls, equipment and labor, damages, liability and loss of profit, when it is necessary for the engineer to exercise this requirement. Full compensation for conforming to the requirements of this article shall be considered as included in the Contract bid prices for the various items of work, and no separate payment will be allowed therefor. a. Provide all labor, material, equipment, and services necessary to properly maintain, operate, adjust, and perform minor repairs to the irrigation system. Contractor shall have on the job site at all times a repair kit and spare parts for plastic pipe and irrigation heads. Ground cover and shrub growth may require raising of heads to clear plant material. b. General All irrigation material shall be best available quality and shall be as specified unless otherwise approved. Material shall include: pipe fittings, drip line tubing, valves, cocks, stops, PVC solvent, etc. c. Hoses Contractor shall provide adequate garden hoses, bubblers, hose bib keys, and all other equipment and materials as necessary for the execution of his work. d. Sprinkler Heads Once during each week of operation, the Contractor's personnel shall, after turning on a valve, visually inspect each section to make certain that there is no clogging by dirt or rock particles. This can be ascertained by wet patterns visible on the ground. e. Sprinkler Control Valves, Hose Bibs 1. If leakage occurs around junction of bonnet and body, correct by replacing the gasket between the two parts. 2. If leakage occurs at the point where the valve stem emerges through the top of the bonnet, correct by tightening the packing nut against the bonnet. Note: tighten only enough to cause the leak to stop. Replace packing if necessary. f. Operation 1. Supervised watering of grounds shall follow a preplanned schedule, differing only as required by the season of the year. 2. The criterion for developing a schedule for irrigation is the proper maintenance of soil moisture. The Contractor shall adjust and improve the schedule as necessary and as directed by the Engineer. g. Schedule The Contractor will be requested to time the operation of the irrigation system to the acceptance of the Engineer. h. Tests The Contractor shall make precipitation and soil moisture tests, as directed by the Engineer, and submit reports to the authorized representative. The Contractor shall operate each system in its entirety for the Engineer at time of final inspection. Any items deemed not acceptable by the inspector shall be reworked to the complete satisfaction of the Engineer. The Contractor shall show evidence to the Engineer that all accessories, charts, records, drawings, and equipment have been delivered to the Engineer, as required, before final inspection can occur.
