Site work and paving for a civil project in Port Hope, Ontario. Design plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a road / highway.

Replacement/rehabilitation of various structures, determining long-term interchange configurations at two (2) locations and establishing the footprint for interim eight (8) and ultimate ten (10) lanes of Highway 401. The study limit is 100 m east of East Townline Road (CR/ER Boundary) to 100 m west of Cranberry Road, for approx. 11 km within the Municipality of Port Hope and Northumberland County. There are three (3) bridges and two (2) structural culverts within the study limits. TIMELINE: The owners have issued a notice of an environmental assessment study (EA) commencement. The study includes undertaking environmental and engineering field investigations and seeking input from Indigenous communities, the public, stakeholders, municipalities and government agencies. The study will include reviewing existing conditions, developing and evaluating alternatives, identifying appropriate improvements, and developing environmental protection / mitigation measures. A Recommended Plan will be confirmed and designated (protected) at the completion of the study. Two Public Information Centres (PICs) are planned, and notices of the PICs will be advertised in local newspapers and sent to the project mailing list. Upon completion of preliminary design, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be prepared and made available for public comment. Further update in winter, 2026/2027.
