Site work for a mixed-use development in Marathon, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for site work for a industrial development; and road / highway.
The Marathon project is located near the town of Marathon on the north shore of Lake Superior, in northwestern Ontario, approx. 10 km from the Trans-Canada Highway. The project contains one of North America's largest undeveloped platinum group metal mineral resources. The Marathon Project involves the construction, operation, decommissioning, and remediation of 3 open pits to produce copper concentrate, consisting primarily of copper, palladium and platinum, critical minerals, an onsite ore processing facility, a 115 kV transmission line, an access road, a mine rock storage area, a process solids management facility, and a water management system, amongst other infrastructure. The project is expected to produce 166,000 ounces of palladium per year and 41 million pounds of copper per year. Over the approx. 13-year life-of-mine, Marathon is projected to produce over 2.1 million ounces of palladium, 517 million pounds of copper, 485,000 ounces of platinum, 158,000 ounces of gold, and 3.16 million ounces of silver in payable metals. The Marathon Project would be one of North America's few palladium producers and a key producer of copper. TIMELINE: Feasibility Study has been completed and in place. The final key permit required for the construction of the Marathon Copper-Palladium Project ("Marathon Project") in Northwestern Ontario is in place. The Environmental Compliance Approval - Industrial Sewage Works (ECA-ISW) has been received from the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks for the management and discharge of water for the construction phase of the Marathon Project. The receipt of the ECA-ISW marks the completion of the construction phase approvals process for the Project. Generation Mining aims to greenlight construction start in late 2026, followed by a 2-year build that points toward a mine commissioning by the summer of 2028. Additional funding investments and/or partnerships are being sought. *Initial capital costs are estimated at approx. C$1.11 billion.
