Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for paving for a playground / park / athletic field; and water / sewer project.
This scope of work includes all: finish grading, backfill and compaction, asphalt paving removal and repairs, line painting and colouring, concrete foundations, drain tile, fencing and landscaping to revitalize the existing tennis courts within the bounds of the existing fencing plus the drain tile connection to an existing ditch. Access shall be from the park road to tennis courts. All disturbed areas must be repaired and cleaned to original condition as shown on the drawings and as articulated in the specifications. LOCATION OF SITE & ACCESS TO SITE The work will be performed near Queen Elizabeth Park at York Street Tennis Courts, in Glace Bay, CBRM. A topographic survey was undertaken. Proposed work includes the supply of all equipment, labour, and materials necessary to complete the following project per the specifications complete in every respect. Work in this project includes but is not limited to: repair and replacement of an existing asphalt pavement tennis court, line painting, plexipaving, fencing, and drain tile. The Contractor will adhere to the anticipated schedule of works (included below) unless a alternate plan is submitted and approved by the Consultant prior to construction. WORK SCHEDULE Submit for review, a complete schedule within seven (7) days after award of Contract. Show starting and completion date for all major items. Change schedule as requested to meet approval of Consultant. All work under this Contract must be substantially complete by October 31, 2025. MATERIALS SUPPLY & STORAGE The Contractor will assume responsibility for all costs incurred in supplying materials, including transporting, handling and storage. The Contractor will assume responsibility for all costs incurred in the purchasing of materials, except where noted otherwise. The Contractor will assume responsibility for all materials stored and protect against; corrosion, vandalism, damage and the incursion of foreign materials. Contractor is responsible for transporting materials to site. All materials on the construction site are the responsibility of the Contractor, including damage from corrosion, vandalism, damage, and the incursion of foreign materials. Contractor is responsible for co-ordinating with Owner all signage and protective barriers restricting access to construction site. SAFETY BARRIERS Provide and maintain barriers and/or signs as necessary for the safety and convenience of the public. Provide additional barriers and/or signs as directed by the Consultant. Minimum Safety fencing requirements to be 1.2m in height in areas disturbed outside the existing that is to remain. Snow fence is acceptable. Sign appropriately. WORK SITE CONDITION The site shall be kept clean and tidy. Remove surplus materials and construction equipment from the site. Secure the site during non-work hours and provide all the necessary signing and barricades to protect the Public. The Contractor shall protect shrubbery, masonry, concrete, lights and timber surfaces to remain free from damage. COORDINATION A coordination meeting will be held on site to determine the size of the laydown area suggested by the Consultant, if additional space is required, the Contractor will notify the consultant in writing. SITE RESTORATION The Contractor is fully responsible for restoration of any items, including landscaping and plant material that have been damaged by the Contractor during the course of the work. Restore all damaged or destroyed items to their original or better condition, ensuring positive drainage.
