Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Design plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The work to be accomplished under this project is to develop a staging area off Highway 11 to provide safe access to the Whitegoat Falls and Vision Quest hiking trail. The work includes: a. Paving and widening of the primary access point from Highway 11. b. Widening and resurfacing of the existing transfer station road. c. Gravel parking area for 20 vehicles. d. Two-stall vault toilet building. e. Trail viewpoint structure designed to accommodate up to 10 people. The wooden platform will be constructed low to the ground and set back safely from the cliff edge, providing clear and ample views of the falls. f. Engineered staircase along steep sections of trail, providing access to a viewing area of the Whitegoat Falls. g. Information kiosk. h. Bear-proof garbage and recycling bins. i. Clearly defined trailheads and connector trail linking: .1 Staging area to Whitegoat Falls and Vision Quest Ridge Route trails. .2 New southern trail connection to complete loop with Whitegoat Falls Trail. j. Remediation of the existing parking and turnaround area near the Cline Transfer Station and the Vision Quest Trail connection. k. Upgraded signage and wayfinding per AFP standard sign catalogue. l. Improved accessibility wherever feasible. TIMELINE: RFP for Landscape Architectural and Engineering Consultant Services has been awarded. Construction is planned for March - September 2026. *Budget is unreleased.
