The City of Marion, Iowa, hereinafter referred to as the "City," is seeking bids for disposal of existing brush stockpiles. The brush consists primarily of tree limbs, branches, and natural vegetative debris accumulated from storm cleanup, resident drop-offs, or ongoing public works operations. Remove stockpiles composed of logs, limbs / branches and vegetative material. All loading and transportation, including disposal of material. Contractor shall coordinate and confirm location of stockpiles with the City of Marion Public Works Department, 202 44th Street, Marion, Iowa. Current piles are available for viewing. Please contact Public works at (319) 377-6367 Monday through Friday between 7:00am and 4:00pm to schedule a visit. The current volume of the stockpile is approximately 153,000 sq ft. and will continue to grow until hauling is completed. City of Marion to delineate a pile to and for the purpose of determining a mobilization. All processed loads will be scaled at Marion Iron Co. 4000 Yd Ave, Marion, Iowa. Printed tickets will be provided to the driver and Marion Public Works. Fees from Marion Iron associated with the use of the scale will be covered by the City of Marion. No fees from Marion Iron Co. will be charged to the contractor for use of the scale. Mobilization and site restoration will consist of leveling out the ground with existing dirt onsite to fill in ruts, etc., left behind by methods to remove stockpiles. When restoration is complete and accepted by the Public works Department that will complete I Mobilization. If the contractor chooses to temporarily leave the site prior to full pile removal, before the entirety of the pile is removed and site restoration has been accepted, only a portion of the mobilization will be paid, based on the estimated amount of the pile removed as determined by the City of Marion (percent complete). The remaining percentage of the mobilization will be paid when the contractor returns to the site and completes the removal of the remaining pile and Site restoration. The City of Marion estimates that one to two mobilizations will be necessary during the course of the contract. Each mobilization shall be completed within 30 calendar days after receipt of a notice to proceed. Liquidated damages of $100.00 per calendar day will be assessed for each calendar day in excess of the specified date and time. Permits for overweight, over width equipment must be obtained at City of Marion Public Works Department - Engineering Division. Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and local regulations. Restore the area to a clean and orderly condition upon completion. Disposing of all brush materials through one or more of the following approval methods: o Hauling to an approved composting or landfill site. o Processing on-site and hauling chips to a disposal or reuse location. o Any other method pre-approved by the City. Contractor must take all precautions to avoid damage to City property or surrounding areas. Any damage caused by the contractor shall be repaired at the contractor's expense. July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. If service levels meet the requirements outlined in this RFB and are satisfactory to the City, the contract may be renewed for one additional year from July I, 2026 to June 30, 2027 by mutual agreement of both parties at the rates identified herein. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids; to request rebids; to award bids item-by-item, by groups or lump sum; and to waive technicalities and formalities where is it deemed advisable in protection of the best interests of the City.
