Texas Southern is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to furnish and install structural shoring columns as specified by Gessner Engineering. The work includes, but is not limited to, the furnishing of all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and services necessary for the installation of temporary or permanent shoring columns per the engineering requirements **Please instruct your courier NOT to go the Warehouse nor Central Receiving as this could delay delivery and could ultimately result in your response being late and rejected. Scope of Work o Provide and install (4) shoring columns in accordance with structural calculations provided by Gessner Engineering. o Each shoring column must support a total unfactored load of 60 kips, comprised of: o Dead Load: 54 kips o Live Load: 6 kips o If load reduction per column is needed, bidder may propose additional columns to distribute the load more evenly. Proposed alternatives will be reviewed and approved by Gessner Engineering and the project owner. o Install 6 ft. x 6 ft. square footings at the base of each column to meet the minimum soil bearing capacity as defined by the International Building Code (IBC). o Ensure all work meets applicable IBC and OSHA regulations. o Coordinate with project representatives on site access, phasing, and any potential disruptions. o Each shoring column must be designed to support a total unfactored load of 60 kips. o This total includes both dead and live loads, with the dead load accounting for 54 kips and the live load for 6 kips per column. o If there is a need to reduce the load per column, this can be achieved by adding additional shoring columns to distribute the total load more evenly. o To safely resist the compressive forces at the base, each column will require a 6-foot by 6-foot square footing, assuming the minimum soil bearing capacity as defined by the IBC (International Building Code).
