Renovation of a civil project in Trenton, New Jersey. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Remove, Supply & Install Check Valve for Raw Water Pump #3 at Trenton Water Filtration Plant Question Deadline 11/06/2025 Questions must be submitted in writing at least seven days prior to the bid opening to igarcia@trentonj.org. SPECIFICATIONS o Remove #3 Low Lift Check valve (30" Series 6000 APCO) o Supply and install one (1) new 30" APCO Series 6000 Check valve or pre-approved as equal. Contractors must supply cut sheets and valve specifications. o Air Cushioned Check Valves to be APCO model CVS-6000-AC (Series 6000), as manufactured by Dezurik, Inc. or pre-approved as equal. o Contractor must be certified Belzona coatings installer in New Jersey and coat new check valve for added longevity with pre - approved Belzona coating. o Contractor to own and operate required 15-ton crane, operator and trucking equipment for this work. - Air Cushion shall be totally enclosed. The cylinder shall have an anodized aluminum alloy cap, head and barrel. The bottom cylinder head shall be hinged mounted to follow the change of angular force as the lever rises and lowers. The primary closing speed of the air cushion cylinder is to be field adjustable by means of a color-coded micrometer type control valve. The secondary closing speed adjustment is performed by the flow control cylinder set screw. Control valve to have a set screw lock to secure final setting accuracy. - Body shall be ASTM A126A Gr. B cast iron. End connections shall be flanged class 125/150 or 250/300 per ANSI B16.1. Valves 6" and larger shall have a drain plug located on the bottom of the valve. - Body Seat shall be 316 stainless steel per ASTM A276 with an O-ring seal and locked into place with stainless steel screws. - Disc and Disc Arm shall be ASTM A536 ductile iron. The disc shall be attached to the disc arm with a double clevis hinge to assure self-leveling and even load distribution upon closure, minimizing seat wear. Disc shall have an independent adjustable full open stop. - The disc arm, valve body or cover is not to be used as the disc stop. Disc seats shall be nitrile butadiene (NBR) and field replaceable without use of special tools. - Pivot Shaft shall be a large one-piece 303 stainless steel per ASTM A582, protruding through the body with a lever and weight mounted on one side. The pivot shaft shall have an integral retainer to prevent axial shaft movement. The pivot shaft shall have O-Ring seals on both sides of the shaft. Braided type packing is not acceptable. - Valve is to be tested by the manufacturer as a complete assembly per AWWA C508. o Supply and install new Victaulic coupling gasket o Supply and install new hardware and gaskets. o Gate valve on discharge side of check valve does not hold. The seat of the gate valve has debris in them. This scope requires the contractor to clear the valve without a shutdown or work with the valve leaking approximately 50-100GPM. o Paint new valve to match existing color onsite with two-part epoxy paint.
