The City of Ottawa Roads and Parking Services is seeking information from potential vendors who can provide Sidewalk Units with Operators for Snow Clearing. (a) The intent of this Contract is to provide sidewalk and/or bus stop snow clearing maintenance. This Contract may include plowing snow and blowing snow from the sidewalk and bus stop surfaces. It may also include scraping ice and hard packed snow from these surfaces and applying de-icing/abrasive materials (i.e. salt, grit and/or sand/salt mixture) to secure footing. At the discretion of the Area Manager or designate, the contractor may be required to clear snow and apply de-icing/abrasive materials simultaneously. The City uses its own equipment as well as hired equipment. Each piece of sidewalk equipment will be assigned to a specific route per snow event upon arrival at the Roads Services Area Maintenance Yard (except for Price Schedule Line Item 1). In addition to sidewalk and bus stop maintenance, rental equipment can be used for additional maintenance work such as snow removal, with no change in the hourly rate of pay. (b) Price Schedule Line Item 1 Rural Roads Services Area one (1) Sidewalk Unit with Blower and Tow Vehicle is not a continuous beat. A tow vehicle with trailer is required to transport the equipment. The Contractor is required under Price Schedule Line Item 1 to transport de-icing/abrasive materials to replenish the sidewalk/bus stop maintenance machine during spreading operations. The tow vehicle may be used as the material transport vehicle. (c) De-icing/abrasives material shall be provided to the Contractor by the City. The costs of de-icing/abrasives material shall not be factored into the Contractors bid price.
