The work is generally described as follows: remove existing asphalt; mill 3 to a uniform height; spot repair sub grade preparation; remove three (3) existing speed humps; placement and compaction of 4 HMA Type SLX on roadway and speed bump improvements; apply tack to milled roadway surface prior to placement of HMA. Returns at all intersections, drives, and alleys shall be tapered to the existing surface. The resurfaced area measures approximately 2,130 feet long by 24 feet wide. All asphalt work shall conform to Asphalt Institute specifications. Application of new HMA overlay shall be on 1st Street beginning at the intersection of Russell Street/HWY 63 and ending at Boyles Street. Proposals will be taken for said construction work listed above by unit prices, as an aggregate bid for the entire project. All proposals for said construction work must be accompanied by Bid Security of not less than 5% of the amount bid. Bid Security to be made payable to the Village of Alvo as liquidated damages in case the bid is accepted and the bidder neglects or refuses, to enter into contract and furnish bond in accordance herewith. The Owner reserves the right to waive informalities and irregularities and to make awards on bids which furnish the materials and construction that will, in their opinion serve the best interests of the Owner, and also reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids. The Village of Alvo, Cass County, Nebraska (Village), is soliciting bids for construction of an asphalt overlay on a segment of locally owned/maintained street. This project is being supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Community Development Block Grant funding. As such, certain requirements and other federal provisions apply to this opportunity. Existing speed humps located approximately at the following locations along Fletcher Avenue/1st Street: 150 feet east of the intersection with Main Street 115 feet west of the intersection with Paul Street 35 feet west of the intersection with Boyles Street Following removal of existing speed humps, the selected contractor shall furnish and construct a new series of asphalt speed humps to maintain reduced vehicle speeds of 25 mph. Each speed hump shall: Be constructed of hot mix asphalt (HMA) Be 4 inches in height Be 13 inches in width Extend across the entire width of the roadway Written questions related to the bid opportunity will be accepted by the Village until July 31, 2025.
