The general requirements of the Scope of Work includes: Nanaimo Harbour Life extension of the timber trestle, including strengthening and replacing timber elements (e.g. stringers, piles, pile caps, braces, etc.), replacing the existing guardrail system, replacing cable tray supports, miscellaneous hardware connection repairs, plugging open bore holes (OBHs), and installing boron rods in timber elements Life extension of the vehicle ramp, including strengthening the ramp abutment frame, replacing the ramp abutment maintenance platform, replacing ramp hinges, and refurbishing elements of the ramp hoist system Life extension of the apron, including installing repair plates and replacing the apron hinges Life extension of the steel pontoon, including repairing the steel hull, installing buoyancy tanks, replacing steel components (e.g. pontoon mooring brackets), strengthening steel elements (e.g. pontoon/tower column supports), and replacing anodes and coatings Life extension of the wingwalls, including repairing corroded pile guides and a wingwall fender frame Replacement of anchor chains and anodes on the floating leads Gabriola (Descanso Bay) Life extension of the vehicle ramp, including replacing sections of laminated decking and asphalt overlay, replacing the seaward ramp box beam, strengthening the ramp lifting beam, replacing the existing guardrail and bull rail system, replacing cable tray supports, replacing the offshore vertical tie up chain, and installing winch platform deck support beams Life extension of the ramp hoist system, including replacing the existing counterweight sheaves, cables and hardware connections with new upsized components, replacing the ramp hanging bars, increasing ramp counterweights and completing ramp lifting system adjustments Demolishing the existing apron and apron hinges, replacing with a new apron and hinges and adding weight to the existing apron counterweights Life extension of the steel pontoon, including repairing the steel hull, installing buoyancy tanks and repairing steel elements (e.g. pile guides) Life extension of the wingwalls, including replacing rubber cone fenders, replacing UHMW pads and wear timbers on the wingwall frame, installing additional weight chains, and refurbishing the backing structures Life extension of the line dolphin, including installing pile wrap repairs to berthing and batter piles, fender system adjustments, a miscellaneous connection repair and replacing anodes Life extension of the waiting room foundation, including repairing timber elements (e.g. stringers, piles, pile caps, braces), replacing corroded steel connections, plugging open bolt holes and reinstating slope/scour protection Tighten anchor chains and replace anodes on floating leads
