Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Calgary, Alberta. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and playground / park / athletic field.
Powderface Trail (Road) is located in the Kananaskis Public Land Use Zone (PLUZ) connecting Highway 66 and Highway 68 in Kananaskis Country. Visitation along the length of Powderface Trail (Road) and surrounding area has increased substantially over the last decade resulting in site degradation, public safety issues and parking congestion. In response to these pressures, Alberta Forestry and Parks (AFP) developed plans to upgrade facilities including parking, wayfinding and signage. The work to be accomplished under this project includes: .1 Upgrade identified nodes along Powderface Trail as per Project Plan. .2 Upgrade signage using the AFP Public Lands Sign Manual as needed. .3 Increase accessibility wherever reasonably possible. .4 Reduce environmental degradation wherever feasible. .5 Wildlife friendly fencing, cattleguard at Powderface Ridge, and trail route construction at Prairie Creek on behalf of grazing leaseholders. TIMELINE: Request for Proposals from engineering consultants is currently underway. Construction is planned for May - October 2026. Further update pending award of contract. *Budget is unreleased.
