Newberry County is soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from qualified engineering firms to provide professional services for bridge assessment, engineering design, and FEMA compliance support. The selected firm will assist with the evaluation and permanent repair design of storm-damaged bridges throughout the County and other infrastructure projects as needed for FEMA reimbursement and hazard mitigation purposes. Several bridges in Newberry County were damaged during Hurricane Helene and are currently under review for FEMA Public Assistance (PA) funding. The bridges vary in construction (e.g., timber frame, concrete deck, culverts) and may include complete washouts, structural failures due to debris impact, and erosion undermining. The County also seeks to use the selected engineering firm for future FEMA-eligible infrastructure projects that require damage assessment, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, engineering design, and compliance with state and federal mitigation standards. All questions must be submitted in writing by August 4, 2025, by close of business at 5:00 p.m. to Crystal Waldrop at the email above.
