Bridge removal and replacement. BRIDGE KEY NO. 30591 Site Directions: Project is located parallel to I-90 approx. .25 miles from the interstate exit. To enhance safety and improve traffic flow, the aging three-span concrete/truss bridge on Canyon Road over the Coeur d'Alene River in Cataldo, Kootenai County, Idaho, will be replaced with a modern prestressed concrete girder bridge. The new bridge will be a 356-foot long, 37.5-foot wide, three-span structure featuring a cast-in-place concrete deck and drilled shaft-supported abutments and piers. Constructed on approximately the same alignment as the existing bridge, it will incorporate roadway approach reconstruction extending 200 feet in each direction. This reconstruction will accommodate the increased bridge width of 37.5 feet and a 5-foot raise in the roadway profile, providing necessary vertical clearance over the river. During construction, the bridge and roadway will be closed, and a detour will be implemented. The project also entails permitted stream alterations, including riprap placement, sheet pile wall installation, and the construction of a work bridge to facilitate construction.
