The project consists of: Base Bid: Consists of removing and replacing the four existing 2,000,000 btu/hr hot water boilers, and their associated two base mounted hot water pumps, and replacing them with four new 2,000,000 btu/hr hot water boilers and two new base mounted pumps. Work includes mod-Ifying the existing heating hot water piping, gas piping, flue piping and the electrical and control feeds to the boilers. The existing VF VFD shall be removed and replaced with two VFD's. The existing system shall remain in operation during work, only one pump shall be replaced and made op-erational before work starts on the second, and only two boilers shall be replaced and made operational before the remaining two are replaced. Alternate Bid #1: Consists of removing and replacing the existing 1,200,000 btu/hr domestic hot water heater and its associated recirculation pump, and replacing it with three 199,000 btu/hr water heaters and new recirculation pump. Work includes modifying the existing domestic water piping, gas piping, flue piping, and the electrical feed to the hot water heaters. This work will not occur until summer of 2026. Prevailing wages in accordance with Coles County is required. Bid security is required, in the form of a bid bond or certified check in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of of the base bid as guarantee that the bid will not be withdrawn within 30 days after the date of opening of bids, and that the successful bidder will enter into a Contract for the work awarded to them. Bid security shall be made payable to Mattoon CUSD #2. Bonds are required: Both a Performance Bond and a Labor and Payment Bond are required for this project, each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. Your Bid will be required to be submitted under a condition of irrevoca-bility for a period of 30 days after submission. The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids or any part thereof, to walve any informality in bidding, and to accept bids deened most favorable to the owner. Award of a contract is anticipated to occur at the August, 2025 meeting of the Board of Education. Begin construction on September 1, 2025. The Work shall be Substantially Complete on or before December 12, 2025 with final completion on or before December 19, 2025.
