The work consists of providing bonds, labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for the pier replacement and relieving platform upgrade work at Pier B South. The major components of the Base Bid work include demolition and legal disposal of the existing pier (to Bent 74), fender system, relieving platform concrete slab-on-grade, asphalt and railroad tracks, disconnection of active existing utilities and reconnection after new pier is installed, installation of new concrete cap on existing steel sheet pile wall, installation of structural fill in voids underneath the relieving platform, repairs to existing warehouse concrete, installation of new augercast piles for new concrete slab-on-grade relieving platform, new restroom and traffic bollards, new pile-supported concrete pier with fenders, mooring bollards and utility vaults, and a single-rail elevated track, landside rail that ties into the existing rail line and associated approach slab and asphalt. A Guarantee will be required with each bid as follows: At least five (5%) percent of the amount bid, but in no event more than Ten Thousand ($10,000) Dollars, shall be furnished in the form of a certified check or bid bond payable to the Alabama State Port Authority. A Performance Bond in an amount not less than the sum bid will be required at the signing of the contract and, in addition, a bond in an amount not less than One Hundred (100%) percent of the contract price, insuring payment of all labor and material.
