Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and bridge / tunnel.

In 2027 and 2028, MnDOT will resurface Highway 52 and replace box culverts. Project work includes resurfacing north and southbound lanes, removing and replacing box culverts, and minor bridge work over the Root River and Rice Creek. We will also construct a new bypass lane at County Road 40 and cul-de-sac 3rd Street in Fountain. Update After gathering community feedback, the project team determined a bypass lane is needed at County Road 40. Community members shared their experiences at the last public meeting, leading the team to re-evaluate this section. We concluded a bypass lane is warranted. We will also be constructing a cul-de-sac at 3rd Street in Fountain and re-aligning West County Road 8 for better sightlines. Both items will improve intersection safety. We have assigned a team to look at all crossings with the City of Chatfield as part of a separate project. This team will continue to evaluate crossings, including pedestrian crossings. The Chatfield historical marker will be addressed in another project, scheduled for 2027. As of July 29, 2025, this project is included in the State's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
