Site work, paving and renovation of a civil project in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and road / highway.

The upcoming resurfacing project on the Hwy 212 bridge, located 0.1 mile east of Hwy 23 in Granite Falls, will focus on improving the condition of the bridge, providing a smoother driving surface, and extending the bridges lifespan. The work will take place in two main phases: lane closures and full bridge closures, with specific traffic impactslisted below. During the resurfacing work, the following traffic management strategies will be in place: Overview of Lane Closures: Throughout most of the project, one half of the bridge will be closed, while the other half remains open. This will allow for continuous traffic flow in both directions, with one half available during the majority of the bridge work. Full Bridge Closure for First Lane Curing: After resurfacing the first half, the entire bridge will be closed for 12 days to allow the new surface to cure properly. Traffic will be detoured during this time, as vibrations from vehicles can interfere with the curing process. Curing is the process of allowing the new pavement to harden and set properly. This curing period ensures the pavement hardens and sets successfully, extending the bridge’s lifespan. Full Bridge Closure for Second Lane Curing: Once the first half is cured and reopened, work will begin on resurfacing the second half. Once resurfaced, the bridge will be fully closed again for 12 days to allow the second lane's surface to cure. Details about construction and detour dates will be shared in Spring 2026, once a contractor has been selected and the final schedule has been determined. As of July 29 , 2025 , This project is included in the State's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
