Paving it would increase traction, reduce maintenance requirements, and improve the flow for shipping. Refer to Merx tender documents. Note that individual bid breakdowns are required. GOC5764417: The chosen approach would be to sandblast the existing catch basin tray beneath the diesel tank to remove any existing accumulated rust. A liquid-applied waterproofing membrane can then be installed over the entirety of the tray to protect it from future rust build-up. This approach also relocates the manual drain for the tray to allow the maintenance team to empty any accumulated water while still maintaining its functionality in the event of a diesel spill. This approach offers a simple solution to the rust build-up on the tray while avoiding any excavation and foundations that an overhead canopy would require after service locates, and client testimony confirmed that important conduits run underneath the concrete slab.
