Site work for a power facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Design plans call for site work for a power facility.
To provide renewable energy to the next stages of Blatchford development, Energy Center #2 (EC2) will be another sustainable energy source in addition to the existing Energy Center #1 (EC1) which relies on the existing geo-exchange field. The key objective of EC2 is to supply renewable thermal energy utilizing a new geoexchange borefield along with peak loads being serviced by boilers and cooling towers. Delivery method is Project Develop Delivery Model (PDDM). TIMELINE: Request for Proposals for Prime Consultant Services has been awarded. This phase includes pre-design, schematic design, and design development and will be considered complete by the City's approval of the Design Development report and class 3 cost estimate. By the end of this phase, the Consultant will assist the City to develop an advanced Business Case with sufficient context analysis, alternatives analysis, stakeholder impact analysis, business and operational impact analysis, cost benefits analysis, the key risks and mitigation strategy analysis. Tentative completion date for the final design development report is August 31, 2026. Schedules for future phases to be determined.
