PN - 1066A The project is located on approximately 6.4 acres of a +/-15-acre city-owned parcel in a designated High Intensity Urban Activity Center District and it aligns with Transect 5 Urban Center zoning per the Tallahassee Land Development Code. Fire Station #17 will be the first new structure on the site, setting the foundation for future facilities that will serve as vital neighborhood assets. Site access is thoughtfully designed with public entry from Lake Bradford Road and staff access from both Lake Bradford Road and Kissimmee Street. Renfroe Valley Street will be enlarged as a new access road to support throughway traffic from Kissimmee Street and Lake Bradford Road, providing essential circulation for fire apparatus and maintaining site security. Emergency vehicles will exit via Levy Avenue to Lake Bradford Road or Kissimmee Street for efficient deployment. The site plan includes 78 parking spaces (47 public and 31 secured staff including 4 accessible and 6 EV charging spaces), bike parking, an approximately 2,227 sq. ft. central utility plant with emergency power, a dumpster enclosure, stormwater management areas, and new or upgraded driveways. Required on-site demolition activities include but are not limited to the removal of existing MEP utilities, storage buildings, stormwater management systems and access drives. The new 28,500 sq. ft. one-story fire station will feature a community meeting room, public restrooms, medical triage room and training room dedicated to the Fire Department. It also includes office space for Fire Prevention/Plans Examiners, Fire Station living quarters, command station offices, three (3) apparatus bays and support spaces to house specialized equipment. The public plaza will incorporate resilient landscaping, integrated site lighting, concrete benches, and pervious and solid walkways to create a welcoming environment.
