The proposed construction is described in general as follows: Approximately 250 LF of 12" water main from west side of Jax Court and extend west to the east side of Old Highway 75. New 16" water main is to extend north from 220th Street for an approximate distance of 1000 LF to connect to an existing 8" water main near the apparent location of Jamie Lane. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with a bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8 as security that the successful bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable the City of Sergeant Bluff, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder's security shall be in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount of the Bid and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured state-chartered bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or by a certified share draft drawn on a state-chartered credit union in Iowa or a credit union chartered under the laws of the United States, or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the City of Sergeant Bluff. The bid shall contain no conditions except as provided in the specifications. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price. Said Bond shall be issued by a responsible Surety approved by the City of Sergeant Bluff and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor and project and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor and shall also guarantee the maintenance of all improvements caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two (2) years for all concrete paving improvements and for two (2) years for all utilities from and after acceptance by the city. The City Council of Sergeant Bluff reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after the date proposals are received and not proposal may be withdrawn during this period. The City Council of Sergeant Bluff hereby reserves the right to waive informalities, reject any or all bids and enter into such contract as it shall be deemed in the best interest of the city. ***Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Sergeant Bluff, in Woodbury County, Iowa, will meet at the Fireside Room of the Community Center at 903 Topaz Drive, in said City, on the 26th day of August, 2025, at 5:30 o'clock P.M., at which time a City Council meeting will begin which will include a public hearing on the proposed plans and specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost for the construction of the 220 th Street and Old Highway 75 Water Main Improvements Project in and for said City. Question Deadline 08/19/2025 All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be submitted to Engineer in writing. Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by Engineer in response to such questions will be issued by Addenda mailed or delivered to all parties recorded by Engineer as having received the Bidding Documents. Questions received less than seven days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered.
