This fire hydrant system, installed in the early 1970s, is in dire need of replacement. After 48 years of service, the 5,000-foot system is failing due to age and saltwater damage from Hurricane Sandy. Frequent leaks and hydrant failures make repairs impractical and costly. The system's current state leads to water waste and compromises its effectiveness as a fire safety measure As of August 05 2025, The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
