As of November 13, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. The City of Waco is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide and install new bridge lighting fixtures, controllers, and related components, along with technical support, for a portion of the existing lighting system on the IH 35 frontage road bridges in downtown Waco. The existing lighting system, installed in 2015, is only partially functional, with approximately 40% of the lights inoperable and difficult to maintain due to specialized equipment requirements. The City's objective is to implement a more durable, weather- and moisture-resistant system that is easier to maintain and ensures long-term reliability. The project will begin with the complete replacement of lighting fixtures on Column B & D, while existing fixtures will be reused on the remaining columns, with gradual replacement planned over the next few years if the City of Waco chooses. Waco desires work on Column B & D is to be completed by January 1, 2026. Vendors shall use attached original plans as a general guide and submit proposals that include a complete system description, comprehensive material specifications, full-color lighting renderings of the proposed lighting design, and certified wiring diagrams by a Master Electrician. Proposals will be evaluated based on cost, vendor experience, responsiveness, and the quality and compliance of proposed materials.
